Hearing Care
At Pople & Broad Opticians, we understand the significant role good hearing plays in helping you stay connected, independent, and engaged in everyday life. Working in partnership with Amplify Hearing, we offer a wide range of professional hearing care services aimed at supporting your hearing health now and in the years ahead.
Whether you're concerned about changes in your hearing, looking for guidance on tinnitus, or require assistance with hearing aids, our experienced audiologists are here to provide expert support. We take the time to understand your needs and deliver personalised recommendations that suit your lifestyle.

Why Hearing Health Checks Matter
Hearing changes can occur gradually over time, making them difficult to recognise in the early stages. Regular hearing assessments are an effective way to monitor your hearing health and identify any concerns before they begin to affect your daily routine.
Taking action early can help maintain confidence, improve communication, and support your overall quality of life. By keeping your hearing health under review, you can continue enjoying conversations, social occasions, and the sounds that matter most to you.
Complimentary Hearing Health Assessment
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to better understand their hearing health. That's why we offer a complimentary*, no-obligation hearing assessment designed to identify any changes in your hearing and determine whether further support may be beneficial.
During your appointment, one of our qualified audiologists will conduct a comprehensive assessment and explain the results clearly and simply. If any issues are identified, we'll discuss the options available and guide you through the most appropriate next steps.
Appointments generally take around 30 minutes, making them an easy and convenient way to stay on top of your hearing health.

What Your Hearing Assessment Includes
Medical & Lifestyle Consultation
We'll begin by discussing your medical history, lifestyle, and any hearing concerns you may have.
Ear Examination (Otoscopy)
Your audiologist will carefully examine your ear canals and eardrums to check for wax build-up, irritation, infection, or any other visible issues.
Pure Tone Audiometry
Using headphones, you'll listen to a range of tones and sounds at different frequencies and volumes. The results are recorded on an audiogram, helping us accurately assess your hearing levels.
Advanced Diagnostic Testing
Where appropriate, additional audiological assessments may be carried out to provide a more comprehensive understanding of your hearing health.**
Further investigations may include:
- Speech recognition testing in both quiet and noisy environments
- Listening comfort and sound tolerance assessments
- Hearing aid performance checks
- Tympanometry to assess middle ear function
*Available free of charge for those aged 55 and over. Consultation fees apply for patients under 55.
**Additional charges may apply for advanced diagnostic assessments.
Home Visit Hearing Care Services
For patients who are unable to attend the practice, or who would prefer the convenience of a home appointment, we offer a professional home-visit hearing care service.
*Our audiologists can provide hearing assessments, expert advice, and tailored recommendations in the comfort of your own home, allowing you to access high-quality hearing care in familiar surroundings.

Tinnitus Care and Support
Tinnitus is a common condition affecting millions of people and is often described as ringing, buzzing, humming, or whistling sounds heard without an external source.
Although there is currently no cure for tinnitus, there are a variety of effective management options available that can help reduce its impact on day-to-day life.
At Pople & Broad, our audiologists offer personalised tinnitus assessments and tailored management plans based on your symptoms and individual circumstances. Recommendations may include sound therapy, hearing aid technology, educational support, and practical coping techniques.
With the right support and guidance, many people find they can successfully manage their tinnitus and improve their overall wellbeing.
Professional Ear Wax Removal
A build-up of ear wax can cause symptoms such as blocked ears, discomfort, reduced hearing, or a sensation of fullness in the ear canal. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, our professional ear wax removal service may be able to help.
We use microsuction, a safe, gentle, and highly effective water-free method of ear wax removal. This precise technique removes excess wax from the ear canal comfortably and can often provide immediate relief from symptoms.
Regular ear wax removal can be especially beneficial for hearing aid users, as excessive wax can impact the effectiveness and performance of hearing devices.
Our experienced clinicians are dedicated to providing safe, comfortable, and effective treatment while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
